Delhi pollution crackdown: Coal tandoors banned, roadside materials removed

  • DPCC has banned the use of coal and firewood in tandoors for all hotels, restaurants, and outdoor eateries in Delhi to combat rising pollution.
  • The ban mandates the use of electric, gas-based, or other clean-fuel appliances and is part of GRAP Phase 1.
  • Urban local bodies and municipal agencies are tasked with enforcing the tandoor ban through inspections.
  • DPCC also ordered the removal of construction materials (sand, gravel, bricks, etc.) stored on roadsides, citing their contribution to dust pollution.
  • Violators of the construction material directive will face confiscation of goods and heavy fines.

Why It Matters: Delhi's pollution fight means healthier air for everyone.
