Srinagar's Raghunath Temple Reopens After 36 Years, Celebrates Ram Navami
•
Srinagar's historic Shri Raghunath Temple reopens after 36 years, celebrating Ram Navami for the first time since 1990.
•
The temple, located in Fateh Kadal, was attacked by terrorists in 1990, leading to the destruction of idols and the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits.
•
Built by Maharaja Gulab Singh (1835) and completed by Maharaja Ranbir Singh (1860), it was a major socio-religious center.
•
Terrorists initially burned the school and Dharamshala within the complex before destroying the temple itself.
•
The temple is known for its grandeur, gold-plated spires, seven concentric minarets, millions of Shaligrams, and a vast library.
