Renowned Bengali Author Shankar Passes Away at 92

Veteran Bengali litterateur Shankar, author of 'Chowringhee', passed away at the age of 92.
•
He was admitted to a private hospital on February 4 due to age-related ailments and severe respiratory distress.
•
Shankar, known for his poignant portrayal of 1970s Kolkata, died in the ICU on Friday at 12:45 PM.
•
His first novel, 'Kato Ajanare', was based on his experiences as a clerk at Frederick Barwell.
•
He received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2014 for 'Eka Eka Ekashi' and continued writing during lockdown, producing 'Duhsomoyer Dinolipi'.
