Renowned Author Mani Shankar Mukherjee Passes Away at 92

Acclaimed Bengali author Mani Shankar Mukherjee, popularly known as Shankar, passed away at 92 due to age-related illness.
•
He was admitted to a private hospital on February 4 with age-related issues and severe respiratory distress, and was in the ICU.
•
Shankar gained early success with his first book 'Koto Ajanare' in 1955, followed by iconic works like 'Chowringhee' and 'Seemabaddha'.
•
Two of his novels, 'Seemabaddha' and 'Jana Aranya', were adapted into films by Satyajit Ray.
•
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed deep sorrow, highlighting his contributions to Bengali literature and his research on Swami Vivekananda.
