HAL slashes IAF's LCA Mk-1A, HTT-40 FY26 delivery targets over engine supply

  • HAL has significantly reduced its delivery targets for LCA Mk-1A fighters and HTT-40 trainers to the Indian Air Force for FY26.
  • The revised targets are 5 LCA Mk-1A fighters and 3 HTT-40 trainers, down from 10 and 12 respectively.
  • The reduction is primarily due to slower engine supplies from GE Aerospace (for LCA) and Honeywell (for HTT-40), along with ongoing weapon trials for the LCA Mk-1A.
  • HAL plans to recover lost time in subsequent years and increase production capacity with new assembly lines in Nashik.
  • Engine supply issues are being addressed, with GE Aerospace expected to increase deliveries and Honeywell's first engine for HTT-40 now due in January 2026.

Why It Matters: Reduced aircraft deliveries due to engine issues threaten IAF's combat strength.
