Karnataka Auto LPG Shortage: Indian Oil Urges Drivers to Switch to Petrol

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOC) advises Karnataka auto-rickshaw drivers to temporarily use petrol due to Auto LPG shortage.
•
Approximately 70% of auto-rickshaws have dual-fuel capability, allowing operation on both Auto LPG and petrol.
•
IOC has increased Auto LPG supply from 43.5 MT/day in Feb 2026 to 68.53 MT/day by April 4, 2026, but shortages persist due to infrastructure limits.
•
Over 80% of 300+ private Auto LPG Dispensing Stations (ALDS) are non-operational, widening the supply gap.
•
Price difference (PSU: Rs 89.52/litre vs. Private: Rs 99-105/litre) shifts demand to PSU outlets, causing long queues.
