PM Modi Urges Speed on Bangalore Suburban Rail, Telangana Irrigation Projects

• PM Modi reviewed the Bangalore Suburban Railway Project and J Chokka Rao Devadula Lift Irrigation Scheme in a recent PRAGATI meeting.
• Both projects, located in opposition-ruled states Karnataka and Telangana, have faced significant delays and cost escalations.
• The Bangalore Suburban Railway Project, sanctioned in 2020, aims to connect Bengaluru city, suburbs, and the airport, spanning 148 km.
• Its cost has increased by Rs 1,020 crore, from Rs 15,767 crore to Rs 16,876 crore, with a target to serve 10 lakh daily commuters.
• The J Chokka Rao Devadula Lift Irrigation Scheme, conceived in 2001, will irrigate 5.57 lakh acres across Warangal, Karimnagar, and Nalgonda districts in Telangana.
