•Rahul Gandhi appeared before an MP-MLA court in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, in a 2018 defamation case.
•The case stems from remarks Gandhi allegedly made against Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the 2018 Karnataka elections.
•The court fixed March 9 as the next hearing date, asking Gandhi to furnish evidence in his defense.
•Gandhi recorded his statement, claiming innocence and calling the case a political conspiracy.
•A warrant was issued against Gandhi in December 2023 for non-appearance; he later surrendered and was granted bail.
