•A passenger bus carrying approximately 40 people plunged into the Padma River at Daulatdia ferry terminal, resulting in 16 deaths and several missing.
•The accident occurred when a ferry collided with pontoon number three, causing the Dhaka-bound bus to lose control and fall into the river around 5:15 PM local time.
•Rescue operations, hampered by rain, recovered the bus around midnight, with 14 bodies found inside after divers had earlier retrieved two women's bodies.
•Fire service, coast guard, military, and police are continuing the search for missing passengers, many of whom were returning from Eid holidays.
•Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has ordered an investigation into the accident, with initial reports suggesting a helper might have been driving or the driver fell asleep.
