• The 'Mention-in-Despatches' is a prestigious honor, signifying a soldier's extraordinary service during an operation, recorded in an official report by a military commander.
• Recipients do not receive a medal but are given a 'Lotus Leaf' emblem to wear on their uniform's ribbon, replacing the British-era 'oak leaf'.
• This year, 81 personnel from the Indian Army received the award, with 5 honored posthumously, including those from Operation Rakshak, Snow Leopard, Meghdoot, and Sindoor.
