Mamata Alarms: 1.2 Crore Names May Be Dropped from Voter List via SIR
•Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed grave concern over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, fearing 1.2 crore names might be excluded from the voter list.
•She stated that 58 lakh names were initially excluded, with further attempts to remove more under 'logical discrepancies'.
•Mamata has approached the Supreme Court of India to fight against this, alleging continued efforts to remove names despite court orders.
•The CM made these remarks at a Jain community event in Bhawanipore, where she also inaugurated projects worth 850 crore rupees and announced various government schemes.
•She announced a new Minority Centre in Salt Lake for 31 crore rupees, providing a common platform for Jains, Sikhs, Muslims, Christians, and Buddhists.
