North Bengal Gets 3 New Railway Lines: Boosting Connectivity, Development

• Ministry of Railways approves three new railway line projects in North Bengal: Raiganj-Dalkhola (43.43 km), Gajol-Itahar (27.20 km), and Raiganj-Itahar (22.16 km).
• These lines will serve as alternative routes between Malda and Aluabari, enhancing regional dynamism and expanding railway services.
• Projects aim to improve socio-economic conditions in backward tribal-dominated areas and facilitate commercial activities near the Bangladesh border.
• The Raiganj-Itahar line (₹129.34 crore) includes 4 stations and 6 major bridges, streamlining transport towards Northeast India.
• The Gajol-Itahar line (₹85.59 crore) features 3 stations and 12 major bridges, strengthening gauge conversion networks. The Raiganj-Dalkhola line (₹291.53 crore) has 5 stations, 13 major bridges, and 6 ROBs, reducing travel time and boosting commerce.
