Voter List Update: 7.5 Lakh Names Resolved, 53.5 Lakh Pending; Mamata Protests

Of 61 lakh voter names under consideration, 7.5 lakh have been resolved, leaving 53.5 lakh pending.
•
Mamata Banerjee staged a sit-in protest at Metro Channel against the SIR process, alleging living voters are on deceased lists.
•
Election Commission assured action on complaints regarding deceased voters and pledged to expedite resolution.
•
200 additional judicial officers are arriving, bringing the total to 705, to speed up complaint resolution.
•
240 companies of central forces (CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP, SSB) will be deployed for law and order and voter confidence.
