West Bengal Elections 2026: New Strategy to Combat Fake Voters with ASD List
•For the first time, the Election Commission introduces an ASD (Absent, Shifted, or Deceased) list to prevent fake voting in West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026.
•Presiding officers will receive the ASD list, which includes voters who are deceased, missing, or have relocated, even after final voter list publication.
•Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Agarwal informed District Election Officers about this new strategy via a letter.
•Only one set of Voter Information Slips (VIS) will be printed per voter and distributed by BLOs, with strict rules against bulk distribution.
•Undelivered slips will be returned to ROs/AROs, who will create a booth-wise ASD list for presiding officers to verify identities of marked voters.
