Martyr Harishchandra Rahangdale: Mother Recalls 16-Year-Old Naxal Encounter
- •Harishchandra Rahangdale, a police constable, was martyred in a Naxal ambush on September 22, 2010, in Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh.
- •He was ambushed by 15-20 Naxals near Timkitola while returning from a weekly market, and despite being shot, he fought back.
- •His funeral was attended by then Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in his ancestral village Piparjhari, where a memorial was built.
- •Harishchandra was only 27 and had been married for three and a half months at the time of his martyrdom.
- •A park, "Harishchandra Rahangdale Vatika," has been built at Hatta Police Station in his memory, inaugurated by his parents.
