MP's Satgarh: A Submerged City Like Dwarka, 4-Story Fort Swallowed by Water

• The historic Kalachuri-era city of Satgarh in Sagar, Bundelkhand, has been submerged due to the Kadhan Satgarh Dam Medium Irrigation Project.
• A four-story fort, believed to be from the 16th century and used by Dangi kings and the British, was also submerged.
• Historians had called for excavation of wells near 1100-year-old temples, believing they held historical idols, coins, and treasures.
• Despite the fort being on ASI's list, no NOC was obtained for the dam, and ASI raised no objection.
• Inscriptions of Kalachuri king Shankargarh and over 165 idols were previously found, with hopes for more discoveries from remaining wells.
