Unique Holi in MP's Sidhi: Phagua Songs Unite Villages, Erase Grievances
•In Sidhi district, Madhya Pradesh, Holi is celebrated with traditional Phagua songs, starting right after Basant Panchami.
•Phagua, also known as Phag in some areas, is considered the identity of the Vindhya region, sung to the beats of Nagariya, Dholak, Manjira, and Harmonium.
•Holi gatherings begin with the arrival of Phalgun and mango blossoms, with all generations participating in the joyous singing.
•On Holi day, groups sing Phagua at every doorstep, applying abeer, embracing, and fostering brotherhood, making the festival incomplete without these songs.
•Special dishes like Gujhia, Phulauri, and Poori are prepared, with Gujhia offered to Phaguhar troupes, symbolizing love and harmony.
