• Veteran South Indian actress Sharada has been selected for the prestigious J.C. Daniel Award 2024, Kerala's highest film honor, for her contributions to Malayalam cinema.
• The award includes a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakhs, a certificate, and a memento, to be presented by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Thiruvananthapuram on January 25.
• Born Saraswati in Tenali, Guntur district, Sharada began as a child artist and became a leading heroine, known for emotionally charged and socially relevant roles.
• She holds a rare record of winning three National Film Awards for Best Actress for 'Thulabharam' (1968), 'Swayamvaram' (1972), and 'Nimajjanam' (1977), earning her the title 'Urvashi Sharada'.
• Beyond cinema, Sharada also served as an MP for the Tenali constituency in the 11th Lok Sabha (1996) representing the Telugu Desam Party.
