•The Supreme Court heavily criticized NCERT, banning the controversial chapter and ordering confiscation of all books containing it.
•Legal action will be taken against anyone distributing copies of the banned chapter, and contempt of court notices have been issued to NCERT Chairman Professor Dinesh Prasad Saklani and the Secretary of School Education.
•The controversy arose after lawyers Kapil Sibal and Abhishek Manu Singhvi brought the phrase 'judicial corruption' in the Class 8 NCERT Social Science book to the Supreme Court's attention.
