Y Khemchand Singh Sworn In as Manipur CM; President's Rule Revoked
- •BJP leader Y Khemchand Singh took oath as the Chief Minister of Manipur, alongside two deputy chief ministers: Kuki BJP MLA Nemcha Kipgen and Naga People's Front MLA L Dikho.
- •Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new leaders at Lok Bhavan, Imphal.
- •The swearing-in ceremony followed the revocation of President's rule in Manipur, which had been in effect since February last year.
- •Manipur has been experiencing ethnic violence since May 3, 2023, resulting in at least 260 deaths and thousands displaced.
- •Y Khemchand Singh was elected as the BJP legislature party leader at a meeting in New Delhi, attended by 35 of 37 BJP MLAs and central observers.
