• Kumar was arrested on January 20 after software engineer Yuvraj Mehta died when his car fell into a water-filled pit at an under-construction site in Sector-150, Greater Noida.
• The High Court accepted Kumar's habeas corpus petition, citing that Noida Police failed to follow Supreme Court guidelines and essential legal procedures during his arrest.
• The incident occurred on January 16 due to lack of barricades and warning signs around the pit, leading to Yuvraj's car falling in and his death by drowning.
• Two other accused, Ravi Bansal and Sachin Karanwal of Lotus Greens Construction, had already been granted bail; an SIT investigation found safety and environmental norm violations.
