Kanpur Metro Expansion: Naubasta to Barra DPR Ready, 8 New Stations Planned

• A Detailed Project Report (DPR) worth 1900 crore rupees has been prepared for the metro extension from Naubasta to Barra in Kanpur.
• The 5.9 km route will include 8 new metro stations, directly benefiting 20 lakh people in South Kanpur.
• The DPR, prepared by RITES in collaboration with Kanpur Development Authority, has been submitted to UPMRC for government approval.
• Currently, Kanpur Metro runs from IIT Kanpur to Kanpur Central; a trial run to Naubasta is expected by January end.
• The new Naubasta-Barra line will connect Corridor-1 and Corridor-2, benefiting approximately 50 lakh people across the city.
