Mahashivratri 2026: Varanasi Municipal Corporation Gears Up for Grand Celebrations

• Varanasi Municipal Corporation is undertaking extensive preparations for Mahashivratri 2026, focusing on Shiva temples and surrounding areas.
• Cleaning and repair work will be carried out at major Shiva temples including Kashi Vishwanath, Mahamrityunjay, Gauri Kedareshwar, Til Bhandeshwar, Sarangnath, and Karmdeshwar Mahadev.
• Roads leading to these temples will be made pothole-free and patched up to ensure smooth access for devotees.
• Special sanitation teams have been deployed, and meat and fish shops are expected to be closed on Mahashivratri, similar to last year.
• The festival, celebrated on February 15, will see a grand Shiv Barat procession and an expected 10-12 lakh devotees at Kashi Vishwanath Temple.
