Shahjahanpur's Kila Mohalla: From Nawab's Glory to Farmland

• Shahjahanpur's Kila Mohalla, once home to Nawab Bahadur Khan's magnificent fort, now serves as agricultural land.
• The fort, a symbol of Mughal grandeur and architectural art, was a grand residence, not a military stronghold, as explained by historian Dr. Vikas Khurana.
• It featured seven buildings, a Diwan Khana, beautiful courtyards, and a famous 'Ghadiyali Darwaza'.
• After the 1857 revolt, the British demolished the fort in 1859 using cannons, under Lieutenant Slade's leadership.
• Today, only remnants of old foundations and rubble remain, but the locality retains its historical name, 'Kila'.
