Uttarakhand Abolishes Madrasa Board, Forms Minority Education Authority: A Historic Step

• The Uttarakhand government will abolish the Uttarakhand Madrasa Board from July 2026.
• A new Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority has been constituted to determine the curriculum and direction for all minority educational institutions.
• Madrasa Board Chairman Mufti Shamoon Qasmi and Waqf Board Chairman Shadab Shams welcomed the decision, calling it a historic milestone for minority education and national progress.
• All minority educational institutions will be brought under this new authority and will seek affiliation with the Uttarakhand Education Board from July 2026.
• The new authority, led by Chairman Dr. Surjeet Singh Gandhi, includes educationists from various minority communities to prepare a modern, inclusive, and quality curriculum.
