• A new government ambulance service, "Cha Bandhu Sathi Ambulance," has been launched at the primary health center in Alipurduar's remote Newlands Tea Garden.
• The initiative, spearheaded by Rajya Sabha MP Prakash Chik Baraik, aims to improve healthcare access for the large population of tea garden workers and their families.
• Previously, residents faced significant challenges in transporting patients to the Kumaragram Primary Health Center (15 km away) or other hospitals due to lack of timely transport, sometimes leading to fatalities.
• The new service is expected to resolve long-standing medical transport issues, ensuring quicker access to healthcare for illnesses, accidents, and emergencies.
• MP Prakash Chik Baraik also mentioned that a hospital is currently under construction in Newlands Tea Garden to provide comprehensive medical services.
