Burdwan Medical Saves Man After Biscuit Wire Pierces Esophagus

• Prakash Chowdhury of Purba Bardhaman swallowed a wire from a 'Lombu' brand biscuit, causing severe throat discomfort.
• Initial X-rays showed an object, but endoscopy failed to locate it; a 3D X-ray later confirmed a wire.
• The wire had pierced his esophagus and was lodged between the esophagus and vertebral bone.
• Doctors at Burdwan Medical College, led by Dr. Ritam Roy, performed a complex surgery on March 10.
• The wire was successfully removed with extreme caution, saving Chowdhury's life; he is now stable.
