East Medinipur Transforms Human Waste into Organic Fertilizer: State's First FSTP Project

• Purba Medinipur district launches the state's first Fecal Sludge Treatment Project (FSTP) to convert human waste into organic fertilizer.
• The initiative aims to combat environmental pollution, especially from increasing human waste in tourist hubs like Digha, Mandarmani, and Tajpur.
• Initially, the project will operate in Ramnagar 1 & 2 and Mahishadal Block, collecting fecal matter from hotels and households.
• The Talghachhari plant in Ramnagar-1 block, built at a cost of approximately 2.5 crore rupees, officially inaugurates on January 20.
• The project, under Swachh Bharat Mission and Mission Nirmal Bangla, will also create employment opportunities and expand to all 25 blocks.
