ECI Demands Report from DGP on Malda Protests, Informs High Court

Election Commission of India (ECI) sought a report from the State Police DGP regarding protests and blockades in Malda's Kaliachak.
•
The incident involved demonstrations against exclusion from the SIR process, leading to National Highway 12 blockade.
•
Seven judicial officers were detained and confined in the Kaliachak-2 block office before being rescued by central forces and local administration.

The ECI has also informed Kolkata High Court Chief Justice Sujoy Pal about the entire matter.

Protesters allege exclusion from voter lists despite valid documents, warning of further agitation if names are not included.
