Engineer Quits Rs 95,000 Job, Earns Millions Growing Roses with Polyhouse Farming

  • Nitin Malakar, an engineer from Maheshwar, Khargone district, left a high-paying job of Rs 90,000-95,000 per month after 12 years in Alibaug and Pune.
  • Inspired by modern farming and polyhouse technology observed in Pune, he decided to pursue agriculture.
  • In 2020-21, he established a polyhouse on one acre in Maheshwar, securing a Rs 40 lakh bank loan with a Rs 28 lakh subsidy from the National Horticulture Board.
  • He planted 32,000 advanced rose varieties from Holland, including Jumelia, White Avalanche, Revival, and Top Secret, producing 1600-1700 flowers daily.
  • Nitin now earns a net profit of Rs 12-15 lakh annually and provides permanent employment to 4-5 local villagers, reducing migration.

Why It Matters: An engineer successfully transitioned to rose farming using polyhouse technology, achieving significant profits and local employment.
