Maharashtra Regularizes Encroachments on Government Land: 30 Lakh Constructions to Benefit

• State cabinet approves regularization of encroachments on government land made before January 1, 2011, up to 1500 sq ft.
• Encroachments up to 500 sq ft will be regularized free of charge.
• For 500-1500 sq ft, a 10% fee of the ready reckoner rate applies; commercial use incurs a 25% fee.
• Encroachments exceeding 1500 sq ft will not be regularized.
• Decision to benefit approximately 30 lakh constructions, increase state revenue, and potentially include Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana benefits. Mumbai and MMR are excluded.
