Solapur Farmer's Maize Miracle: 8 Cobs Per Stalk in Sugarcane Intercrop
•
Motiram Dhodmise from Solapur successfully intercropped maize in his one-acre sugarcane field.
•
Using a dibbling method with two seeds per spot, each maize stalk remarkably produced eight cobs, far exceeding the usual 3-4.
•
He applied 10-20 fertilizer, 4-5 bags of urea, and periodic pesticides for optimal growth and pest control.
•
The experiment is expected to yield 25-30 quintals of maize, generating an estimated profit of 80,000 rupees.
•
Combined with sugarcane, Dhodmise anticipates a total profit of nearly 3 lakh rupees, advocating for planned intercropping.
