• Avoid using a conch in Shiva Puja, as Lord Shiva killed the demon Shankhachooda, from whom the conch originated.
• Do not offer Ketaki, lotus, oleander flowers, or Tulasi leaves; instead, use Bilva, Datura, and Shami leaves.
• Perform only a half-circumambulation of the Shivling and never cross the Abhishek water path; offer only clean, unbroken Akshatas and three-leaf Bilva leaves with the smooth side touching the Shivling.
