•
Victims are kept under 'digital custody' via phone/video calls, intimidated, and coerced into transferring money for fake 'investigations'.
•
Two major cases in Gujarat: a retired professor lost ₹11 crore, and a retired gynecologist lost ₹19.24 crore, totaling over ₹30 crore.
•
There is no legal process called 'digital arrest'; police or agencies never demand money or conduct investigations via video call.
•
Verify official calls, inform family, never transfer money for 'verification', and report suspicious activities to 1930 or cybercrime.gov.in.
