Kashi's Vishalakshi Shaktipeeth: Where Sati's Ear Ornaments Fell, Adi Shankaracharya Established Shri Yantra
•
Kashi's Vishalakshi Temple is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths, where Bhagwati Sati's ear ornament (Karnkundal) fell.
•
Adi Shankaracharya established the powerful Shri Yantra here in the 8th century, and the temple is built in South Indian style.
•
Located in Mirghat, near Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi, it's also known as Maa Vishalakshi Gauri Temple.
•
The temple features two idols of the Mother Goddess: one movable and one immovable, both worshipped equally.
•
Special worship of the movable idol occurs during Navratri on Vijaya Dashami, while the immovable idol's birthday is celebrated on Kajri Teej.
