Bengal Braces for Week of Storms: IMD Forecasts Thunder, Rain & Kalbaishakhi

IMD predicts significant weather changes across Bengal this week, with thunderstorms and rain in South Bengal and storms in North Bengal.

Rain and storm activity will be high from Sunday to Tuesday, decrease on Wednesday and Thursday, then increase again from Friday.
•
Meteorologist Anwesha Bhattacharya attributes the weather to excess moisture from the Bay of Bengal, forming thunderclouds.
•
Kalbaishakhi is expected, with hailstorms possible in Purba Bardhaman, Paschim Bardhaman, Birbhum, and Hooghly.

Wind speeds of 30-50 km/h, potentially up to 70 km/h, are forecast for most southern districts.
