New PAN card creation requires birth certificate, passport, or 10th mark sheet; Aadhaar no longer accepted as date of birth proof from April 1, 2026.
•
Property transaction PAN limit increased to 20 lakh rupees from 10 lakh rupees for immovable property.
•
PAN card mandatory for all new insurance policies, regardless of premium amount, to link policies under 'Account Based Relationship'.
•
PAN card now required only for vehicle purchases exceeding 5 lakh rupees; previously mandatory for all four-wheelers.
•
Hotel and restaurant cash payment PAN limit raised to 1 lakh rupees from 50,000 rupees.
•
Annual cash transactions exceeding 10 lakh rupees (deposit/withdrawal) in banks will require a PAN card.
•
PAN card mandatory for new credit card applications; payments over 10 lakh rupees reported to Income Tax Department.
•
Name on PAN and Aadhaar cards must match exactly; discrepancies may halt transactions after April 1.
