Individuals can store up to 30 liters of petrol or diesel at home in safe, strong containers without special permission.
•
Storing more than 30 liters requires a license from local petroleum authorities, following the Petroleum Act 2002.
•
First-time violation incurs up to 1 month imprisonment or ₹1,000 fine; second time, 3 months imprisonment and ₹5,000 fine.
•
Selling fuel on the black market can lead to up to 7 years imprisonment.
