Mukul Roy, "Chanakya" of Bengal Politics, Passes Away at 73

•Former TMC leader Mukul Roy passed away at 73 in Kolkata after a prolonged illness.
•Known as the "Chanakya" of Bengal politics, he was a close associate of Mamata Banerjee and TMC's second-in-command.
•He began his political journey with the Youth Congress, co-founding TMC in 1998.
•Roy served as MoS in Shipping and Railway Ministries under UPA 2, becoming Railway Minister in 2012.
•His TMC career ended after his name surfaced in the Saradha scam and Narada sting, leading him to join BJP in 2017.
