8th Graders Win National Award with Rs 2500 Innovation: Trolley for Carcasses & Grass Cutting

• Two 8th-grade students from a rural area, P. Niharika and A. Ruthika, developed a multi-purpose trolley.
• The innovation addresses common village problems: removing animal carcasses, mud clumps, and garbage from roads.
• It also features an attached grass cutter, making fodder collection easier for women and elderly farmers without bending.
• The device, built in 15 days for just Rs. 2500, is battery-operated, lasting 6 hours and capable of cutting over an acre of grass.
• Guided by teacher T. Sampath Kumar, the students won the Inspire MANAK National Award 2025, Agastya International Foundation Award, and IIT Hyderabad Hackathon 5.0 Award.
