Delhi-Dehradun Expressway: Inauguration Delayed to April, Saharanpur Section Ready
•The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway's inauguration is delayed from March to April due to incomplete work in some sections, despite the Saharanpur region being nearly 100% complete.
•The 210 km, 6-lane expressway, costing approximately 12,000 crore rupees, aims to reduce travel time between Delhi (Akshardham) and Dehradun to 2.5-3 hours.
•Construction began on December 4, 2021, with the foundation stone laid by PM Narendra Modi; full operation is now expected by April 2026 due to various delays.
•Key features include a 12-kilometer elevated road near Mohand, a 340-meter tunnel at Datkali, and a design focused on wildlife protection.
•The expressway has a speed limit of 100 km/h, 16 entry-exit points, 113 underpasses, and 5 railway overbridges, significantly cutting travel time and boosting trade.
