Howrah Youths Rescue Olive Ridley Sea Turtles Lost in River, Return Them to Sea
- •Two Olive Ridley sea turtles were rescued from the river in Howrah after straying from the sea within three days.
- •Environmentalist Sourav Mondal and 'Jaipur Sahajyer Haat Barie Dao' organization members rescued the turtles from Bhatora and Kashmali in Amta.
- •The Howrah Forest Department, led by DFO Sujit Kumar Das and Range Officer Rajesh Mukherjee, facilitated their return to the sea.
- •The turtles were released into the Bay of Bengal on a secluded beach within the Kanthi Range of Purba Medinipur.
- •Wildlife conservationist Chitrak Pramanik noted that such incidents are not uncommon, especially during their egg-laying season (January-March), as they are saltwater creatures.
