New Digha-bound station opens in East Medinipur: Gholbagda Halt to ease travel
•A new halt station, Gholbagda, is set to open in East Medinipur on the Digha-Tamluk railway line, fulfilling a long-standing local demand.
•Located between Nachinda and Heria stations, it will significantly reduce travel distances for residents of Bhagwanpur-II, Potaashpur-II, and Kanthi-III blocks.
•The station, whose foundation was laid on March 1, 2024, is almost complete with platforms, seating, streetlights, ticket counter, drinking water, and toilets.
•Expected to be inaugurated around March 12, the station will ease local travel and boost the economy by facilitating product transport.
•Concerns remain regarding the lack of a dedicated access road, the need for a subway for the eastern platform, and new bridges over the Boroj Canal and Gholbagda Canal.
