Siuri Residents Demand Repair of Historic 'London Clock' Over New Tower
•Siuri's century-old 'London clock' on the Treasury Building has been out of order for nearly eight years, despite a new fiberglass clock tower being installed.
•The clock, gifted by the Prince of Hetampur between 1902-1904, was once the city's primary time source and a significant historical witness.
•It broke down in 1970 due to lightning and was skillfully restored in 1995 by Rabindranath Chakraborty, who maintained it until 2016.
•Since stopping again in 2016, no repair initiatives have been taken, despite appeals from the Birbhum Nagarik Kalyan Samiti to the Zilla Parishad and Heritage Commissioner.
•Residents express that the new modern tower cannot replace the emotional value and tradition associated with the historic clock, urging swift restoration.
