Pune-Lonavala Trains to Hit 130 Kmph by 2026, Cutting Travel Time

• Pune Railway Division plans to increase train speeds on the Pune-Lonavala route from 110 kmph to 130 kmph.
• The high-speed upgrade is expected to be completed by June 2026.
• Infrastructure improvements include replacing overhead catenary and contact wires, and installing Automated Tensioning Devices (ATDs) for consistent wire tension.
• Passengers will save 4-5 minutes in travel time, improving railway schedules and reducing delays for key trains like Deccan Queen and Sinhagad Express.
• Work is primarily conducted during Sunday mega-blocks to minimize passenger inconvenience, aiming for faster and safer travel.
