IOC Bars Transgender Women from Women's Events at 2028 LA Olympics
•The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced a new eligibility policy, excluding transgender women from women’s events at the Olympics, starting with the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
•Eligibility for female category events will now be limited to biological females, determined by a mandatory gene test.
•The policy aims to protect fairness, safety, and integrity in the female category, acknowledging physical advantages retained by those born male.
•The new rules are not retroactive and do not apply to grassroots or recreational sports programs.
•The IOC also published a 10-page policy document restricting female athletes with differences in sex development (DSD), like Caster Semenya.
