Winter Olympics: French Judge Accused of Bias After Controversial Figure Skating Gold

  • France's Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron controversially won figure skating ice dance gold over USA's Madison Chock and Evan Bates by a mere 1.43 points.
  • French judge Jezabel Dabouis is under scrutiny for allegedly rigging scores to favor her compatriots, awarding them significantly higher points than the American pair in both free dance and rhythm dance events.
  • Dabouis was the only judge to award the Americans less than 130 points in the free dance, and five of nine judges had placed the Americans on top in that event.
  • The French pair's partnership, formed less than a year ago, has seen Dabouis judge six of their events, with them winning five.
  • Further controversies surround the French pair: Fournier Beaudry defended her former partner Nikolaj Sørensen, who faced sexual assault allegations, and Cizeron has been accused of being controlling by a former partner.
