Australia: Queensland Braces for Life-Threatening Floods; 2.55 Lakh at Risk

Queensland, Australia faces severe flood warning due to a tropical low-pressure system approaching its northeastern coast.
•
Heavy rainfall up to 300mm in 24 hours expected from Friday, impacting Cairns, Port Douglas, and Cooktown.
•
Approximately 255,000 people in these northeastern coastal cities are at risk of dangerous and life-threatening floods.
•
Bureau of Meteorology advises avoiding floodwaters; the chance of the system developing into a tropical cyclone is now 5%.
•
Earlier, emergency flood warnings were also issued for Victoria and New South Wales on March 2.
