He termed March 25, 1971, a 'disgraceful and brutal day' when Pakistani forces launched 'Operation Searchlight' against unarmed Bangladeshis.

Rahman highlighted the indiscriminate firing on teachers, intellectuals, and civilians in Dhaka University, Pilkhana, and Rajarbagh Police Lines.
•
The 8th East Bengal Regiment in Chattogram initiated armed resistance, leading to the nine-month Liberation War.
•
Rahman urged honoring martyrs' sacrifices by upholding equality, human dignity, and social justice, and building a democratic Bangladesh.
