Canada to Revoke 26/11 Accused Tahawwur Rana's Citizenship Ahead of Carney's India Visit
•
Canada moves to revoke Tahawwur Rana's citizenship, accused of a key role in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, ahead of PM Mark Carney's India visit.
•
Rana's citizenship revocation proceedings, initiated under former PM Stephen Harper, stalled under Justin Trudeau's government.
•
The revocation is based on fraudulent citizenship acquisition, as Rana falsely claimed residency in Canada during his application in 2000.
•
Rana, a Pakistani-Canadian, is accused of facilitating the Mumbai attacks as part of Lashkar-e-Taiba's plot sponsored by Pakistan's ISI.
•
He was previously convicted in the US for planning an attack on a Danish newspaper and was extradited to India last year.
